Malwathu Oya Kayaking

Technical: Grade 0-1  flatwater, 25m river width, 1-3m depth, ancient stupa-lined banks. Gear: Sit-on-top kayaks, 10L dry bags provided.

Day 1: Segment 1 – Training & Prep (0 km paddle, 2 hrs evening drills)
Start: Arrive Anuradhapura standard hotel (cultural city comfort, HB dinner) or luxury resort

(heritage pool spa); evening gear fitting and safety briefing. Prepare/Do: Post-dinner kayak handling practice, paddle sync drills, PFD/helmet fitting on calm riverfront-no experience needed. End: Relaxing night in hotel, early sleep for tomorrow’s launch.

Highlights & Scenery: a sunset reflections, langur troops in temple paddies.

Day 2: Segment 2 – Aluthgama Launch (20 km, 4-5 hrs paddle)
Start: Hotel breakfast, transfer to Aluthgama put-in; standard tents or luxury glamping (air beds/AC) await evening. Prepare/Do: Morning paddle-off through cultural plains, first crocodile spotting. End: Riverbank wildlife bungalow (elephant corridor decks) or camps; BBQ dinner, campfire tales.

Day 3: Segment 3 – Thekkama Anicut Rapids (25 km, 5-6 hrs paddle)
Start: Camp coffee, pack lunch prep; break camp for prime wildlife day. Prepare/Do: Navigate Class II rapids past 640-ft granite dam with wildlife guide calls. End: Thekkama Anicut luxury camp (full-protection glamping village) or sandbank night; stargazing BBQ.

Day 4: Segment 4 – Aruviya Aru Finale (20 km + 5 km estuary, 5 hrs paddle)
Start: Camp breakfast, calm waters to mangrove estuary; final sea merge. Prepare/Do: Relaxed paddle through bird estuaries to Prince Vijaya landing site. End: Aruviya Aru waterfront resort extraction, Ayurveda recovery, Colombo transfer.
